Fans were stunned to see White, 26, chest-pressing two 40kg dumbbells as the Gunners did some pre-season gym work.

One commented on Arsenal’s Instagram post: “Throwing 80kg up, my guy.”

Another added: “Ben White pressing 40kgs, my kinda guy.”

A third wrote: “Benny with the 40s.”

For comparison, Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus had a pair of 22.5kg weights.

Before he hopped on the workout bikes with Ethan Nwaneri and Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard was looking ripped too.

White would almost certainly have made England’s squad on merit.
