At Euro 2024, one Arsenal player experienced a night to forget.
For the tournament, nine of Mikel Arteta’s players were called up by their national teams, and there have been some inconsistent results.
While some have performed admirably, such as William Saliba, others, like Leandro Trossard and Kieran Tierney, have fallen short.
After playing so poorly in their last-round Euro 2024 match on Tuesday, another Arsenal player has now come under fire.
What the Polish media are saying about Jakub Kiwior, an Arsenal star, and his performance against France
The Pole has extraordinary talent. He is incredibly adaptable in addition to possessing all the physical and technical qualities you would want in a center-back.
Kiwior can play anywhere in a back-three, on either side of central defence in a back-four, at left back or left wing-back, and in defensive midfield if necessary.
That’s the reason Arsenal signed him, and aside from that, he’s an important player for Poland, where he’s excelled since making his debut in June 2022.
But in Poland’s last Euro 2024 match, Kiwior was far from his best when playing France.
In the first half, the 24-year-old let France score when he mishandled the ball. However, he got away with it. Lukasz Skorupski made a great save in goal to save him.
Following the interval, Kiwior gave up a penalty following an unnecessary foul on Ousmane Dembele. Kylian Mbappe was able to score from the spot as a result.
The national media in Poland has made its judgements about Kiwior, and none of them are particularly favourable.
The defender for Arsenal received a 3/10 from Meczyki, who also noted that it was his poorest performance with the national team. The awarded penalty kick merely served as a synopsis of the game’s ending.
When he carelessly lost the ball in the first half, he posed a threat to our defending. He was consistently defeated in duels by Ousmane Dembele.
Sport Radio Zet gave him a 2/10 rating, stating that “let’s play 14, he is weak” was likely the rivals’ mindset. Indeed, he was.
“He gave a rival team one more chance after a careless ball recovery in the 19th minute that may have resulted in a goal, and then he committed the foul on Dembele that resulted in a penalty. An unforgettable performance.
Finally, Kiwior received a 3/10 rating from TVP Sport, which stated: “He has played a certain defensive point up until now, but today he just played a nightmare match.”
“Electric, there are a lot of easy defeats being played. Additionally, after Dembele was fouled in the penalty area by France’s 11, he was tortured.

The future of Kiwior at Arsenal has been uncertain for some time.
The Pole, who has just been with the Gunners for 18 months, participated in 30 games in all competitions during the 2023–24 campaign, primarily at left back.
Kiwior isn’t a regular starter, though, and this has led to rumours that he would depart the team during the summer transfer window—Juventus is quite eager to sign him.
However, it was exclusively disclosed by TBR Football that Kiwior will not be leaving Arsenal during this window.
According to other reports, the Pole is willing to wait for a chance to play in his preferred central defensive position at Arsenal and is content to take on the backup role for the time being.
