Stan Kroenke, the owner of the LA Rams and Arsenal, is worth an astounding £11.5 billion, and he owns a property portfolio to match.
The American sports tycoon and his Walmart heiress wife purchased the United States’ largest ranch in 2016 and it’s so big you could fit the entire cities of New York and Los Angeles inside its borders.
The W.T Waggoner Ranch is the largest in the USA
The estate in Texas stretches over a staggering 535,000 acres
Kroenke paid £500m for the land in 2016
Within its boundaries would fit both New York City and Los Angeles.
The W.T. Waggoner Ranch in Texas, which spans 535,000 acres, was purchased by Kroenke and his spouse Ann Walton for an astounding £500 million.
The ranch has thirty thousand acres of agriculture, hundreds of horses, and thousands of cattle. It also has oil wells.
Due to financial difficulties at Emirates Stadium, the 75-year-old billionaire’s company, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, which owns Arsenal, had to lay off 55 employees during the pandemic.
In addition, he owns the NBA team Denver Nuggets, the NHL team Colorado Avalanche, the MLS team Colorado Rapids, and the NFL team Los Angeles Rams, who won the Super Bowl.
In addition, he made billion-dollar contributions for the construction of the 70,000-seat SoFI Stadium in Inglewood, California.
In 2016, Kroenke declared, “This is an incredible opportunity and an even greater responsibility,” after securing the ranch.
When Kroenke purchased the ranch in 2016, he said he was honored to be able to preserve the American icon.
“We are honored to take over the Waggoner, a genuine landmark in Texas and America, and we are devoted to carrying on the illustrious history of W.T. “Tom” Waggoner, his family, and their heirs.
We sincerely thank them and all of the other participants in this process. We’ll keep guarding and safeguarding this distinctly American gem.
At Arsenal, Kroenke was a contentious figure. In 2019, supporters of the Gunners released a statement urging him to revitalize the team.
Supporters had “never felt more marginalized,” according to the statement. After that, the team fired Unai Emery and brought in Mikel Arteta.
Since then, Arsenal’s on-field performance and significant roster additions have given the impression that the fans’ concerns were taken seriously, since the team is currently in position to contend for the championship.
Kroenke is married to Ann, whose father Bud was one of the original Walmart investors, having been formed by his brother Sam.
In 2012, Kroenke acquired another historic property, the 124,000-acre Broken O Ranch in Montana.
In addition, he owns ranches in British Columbia, Arizona, and Wyoming.
New York City could fit inside the ranch’s border
And Los Angeles could still fit alongside NYC within the boundaries
