Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United has long been a source of discussion for the team’s supporters, and it appears that the Red Devils have made their choice about the 22-year-old.

He is currently on loan at Getafe for the 2023–24 season, although his nаme has mostly stayed out of the press in England due to a questionable event that prompted the club to suspend him while they await the resolution of a legal dispute.

In the end, Greenwood was permitted to resume his football career because he was exempt from appearing in court for reasons that were extensively publicized.

A media briefing that was allegedly leaked ahead of the formal announcement gave the impression that this would take place at Old Trafford, but the reaction to it was so strong that the club was cоmpelled to loan the player away.

As his loan period at Getafe in the Spanish first division draws to a close, Man United has made the decision to halt all rumors over his future. He has quietly rebuilt his career at Getafe.

“Man United is ready to profit from Mason Greenwood, as I previously reported, and nothing has changed,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside during his special Daily Briefing.

“Getafe still hopes to keep him on loan, but Man United will wait for permanent transfer proposals because the priority is a sale in order to make profit for Financial Fair Play.”

Even if that is undoubtedly the best result for all involved, it will undoubtedly cause United and the player to reflect on what could have been.

Given how badly United’s wingers have played in recent seasons and how excellent Greenwood was prior to his personal choices taking precedence over his career, one could аrgue that he is exactly what Erik ten Hag has been missing from his team lately.

It’s a moot matter, though, because the United supporters need to move past Greenwood’s persona non grata, who will always be disliked by a significant portion of the fan base.
