The Reds star Scholes established a cutting-edge gym in his hometown with a £500,000 investment.
In his hometown of Oldham, the illustrious Paul Scholes of Manchester United has partnered with his children, Arron and Alicia, to create a state-of-the-art gym. The Scholes family’s £500,000 investment has resulted in the massive 10,000 square foot development on Lees Road in the town.

Award-winning designer Mark Mason created the gym’s layout. Paul, a former player for the Reds and England, stated that his family, who are all fitness aficionados, started working out in their Oldham backyard during a lockdown, which gave rise to the concept for the gym. They made the decision to choose a gym that would accommodate both beginners and those looking to push their fitness limits by providing a variety of cutting edge equipment and workout programs.
The Scholes sisters, Alicia (20) and Arron (22), are in charge of the gym. Alicia is a part-time professional athlete who plays netball for London Pulse and is a Level 3 licensed personal trainer. It is being marketed as a “gym like no other,” featuring a coffee shop area at the front of the building and chic interiors with large windows and gentle lighting that create a cozy atmosphere.

Inside the exercise studios, eye-catching neon signs and motivational phrases like “Gains O’Clock” and “Stronger than Yesterday” are meant to uplift and motivate gym patrons. The gym is divided onto two floors and includes cardio, strength, and conditioning equipment, a wall of weights, and a dedicated studio area.
The family took over and transformed the old Lees Road tool rental warehouse into the brand-new, cutting-edge gym. The legendary Paul of Man United discussed the value of supporting the neighborhood in his speech, saying, “Oldham is where I grew up and got my first taste of sport.”
It means a lot to me to open Scholes Gym here. It’s the kind of space that, like Arron and Alicia, I had only dreamed of having back then, and I’m happy to be able to design it for others.

Members also get access to a Batak reaction machine, a piece of equipment that is primarily seen in professional sports studios and is praised by elite athletes like Paul for enhancing stamina, reaction time, and hand-eye coordination. A variety of exercise equipment, including rowers, ski ergs, assault cycles, and treadmills, are available on an open decking space upstairs that looks out over the floor.

At the gym, Arron and Alicia will oversee private training sessions with the assistance of a skilled group of professionals. “After six months of hard work, it’s amazing to open the doors and welcome guests to Scholes Gym,” Arron remarked during the launch. It’s something that Alicia and I have discussed for a while, so seeing it come to pass is wonderful.
“We are excited to greet guests and share our sports knowledge with them, along with our outstanding crew. It is a delight to be able to contribute to our members’ fitness journeys and enhance their physical and emotional well-being.
