Signed by Edu, now worth the same as Declan Rice: Arsenal struck gold on ‘SENSATIONAL’ star

This season, he has played a pivotal role at the Emirates Stadium.

Last summer, Arsenal had a fantastic transfer window thanks to the great management of Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu. They invested £211 million in four players who, for various reasons, have turned out to be excellent investments.

Declan Rice was acquired by Arsenal for £105 million, smashing the club transfer record. Despite the high price tag, the purchase has turned out to be very good value for money. Rice was coming from West Ham United. Rice is regarded by many as one of the Premier League’s top number sixes this year.

In addition, they paid a £3 million loan fee to sign David Raya on a loan from Brentford. With the Bees getting an additional £27 million, that relocation is expected to be permanent, meaning Raya will remain in north London for the foreseeable future.

The Gunners’ £38 million acquisition of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber was another brilliant move. Regretfully, the Dutchman’s right knee ailment has kept him sidelined for a significant portion of the season. That being said, he is expected to make a comeback to first-team play prior to the season’s conclusion.

But Arsenal also completed another transaction last summer that turned out to be a great bargain for the player and the team.

The 2024 transfer value of Kai Havertz to Arsenal

The player in question is Kai Havertz, an international player from Germany.

Havertz was acquired by Arsenal from Chelsea for a reported £65 million, although many had doubts about the transfer at first. Having said that, Havterz has been amazing lately and has adapted to life in the red area of London quite well.

Martin-Odegaard-Arsenal-HavertzHavertz has had a sharp increase in transfer value since joining the Gunners. The 24-year-old is currently valued at £85 million, which is already £20 million more than Chelsea paid to buy him in the summer, according to CIES Football Observatory.

It’s interesting to note that Havertz has one of the highest values on the Arsenal team. His value is the same as that of Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli, center-back William Saliba, and fellow summer addition Rice. The only people worth more are Martin Odegaard (£128 million) and Bukayo Saka (£171 million).

Considering the opinions of many supporters when the German signed for the team, this high appraisal is undoubtedly symptomatic of Havertz’s good form in recent months, and both he and his manager Arteta should take credit for that.

Data from Kai Havertz’s season

The offensive midfielder’s outstanding first season at Arsenal did not always begin in the same way that it is concluding. The German took some time to settle in at the Emirates Stadium and initially filled Granit Xhaka’s midfield position from the previous summer.

He has been at his best in front of goal since switching to play as a center-forward under Arteta during the second half of the season. Havertz has now racked up six assists and 12 goals in the Premier League. According to Sofascore, Saka is the only Gunners player with more goal involvements—24 in the Premier League.

Havertz is actually enjoying one of his best years to date in his career. In terms of pure goal involvements, this is Havertz’s joint second-best campaign, according to football statistician Statman Dave. He has already matched his 2019–20 goal total and is just two goals shy of matching his greatest season, 2018–19.

Havertz is a player that Arteta definitely rates. After the victory over Tottenham, Arteta showered the German with compliments, calling him “sensational in every department” after the former Chelsea player scored his first goal in the North London Derby.

Without a question, Edu’s organized £65 million acquisition of the player by Arsenal last summer was a triumph. The 24-year-old has had an incredible season on his own and has seen a significant increase in his transfer value—not that he will be leaving Arsenal.

Now, his goal will be to encourage Arsenal to win the Premier League.
