Rodrygo, a Real Madrid forward, has distanced himself from speculation that he may quit the club despite rumours of interest from numerous Premier League clubs.
Despite having his best La Liga goalscoring season (10) to date in 2023/24 and playing an important role in Madrid’s recent success, Rodrygo has been linked with a move due to the widely anticipated summer arrival of Kylian Mbappe and the pre-arranged transfer for Brazilian prodigy Endrick.
According to a report in Spain last month, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City are all interested in Rodrygo, while Paris Saint-Germain has also been linked with him.
Rodrygo, on the other hand, is not ready to call it quits at the Bernabeu.
“I love this club so much,” he told beIN SPORTS.
“I hope that my future is always here. “[Carlo Ancelotti] is like a father to me.”
Rodrygo was only 17 when Madrid agreed to a transfer to Santos in 2018. It followed the club’s identical acquisition of Vinicius Junior from Flamengo a year earlier, in which the players were bought as minors for large sums of money before making the international move to Spain when they became 18.
Rodrygo was naturally a periphery player when he originally joined, but he had a breakthrough season in 2021/22, appearing 49 times in all competitions and scoring key goals in Champions League quarterfinal games against Chelsea and Manchester City.
His on-field relationship with Vinicius has become stronger, with the pair chosen as strike partners this season as Ancelotti reshapes his lineup to include summer recruit Jude Bellingham as a goalscoring attacking midfielder in the manner of Kaka.
Rodrygo took over Madrid’s number 11 shirt from Marco Asensio last summer. With Vinicius wearing 7, Mbappe is expected to take the 10 shirt if Luka Modric departs, as is widely speculated.
