Social media users have expressed their displeasure over Nicolas Jackson’s challenge of Takehiro Tomiyasu during Arsenal’s 5-0 thumping of Chelsea. Chelsea striker Jackson was charged by supporters with “getting away” after deliberately stepping on Tomiyasu during his team’s devastating defeat at the Emirates. Jackson tried to shut down Tomiyasu after he sidestepped Conor Gallagher in the middle of the pitch, but instead of doing so, he crashed into him.
The 22-year-old Chelsea player’s decision to dive in with his studs up, though, infuriated football fans on social media.
People questioned Jackson’s lack of a card on social media, with some saying he ought to have received a yellow “at least.”

“Thought it was bad, but it also looks quite deliberate,” a fan commented. “Ankle breaker and no card?” was said by another. That makes sense.
VAR was criticized by some supporters who said they were “sleeping” at work. A vengeful fan said, “VAR sleeping… terrible.”
‘WHAT’S YOUR F***ING EXCUSE?’ said a devotee who tagged Professional Game Match Officials’ official account.
Others believed Chelsea was being given preferential treatment because Leandro Trossard had received a yellow card for a similar infraction.
“Yet Trossard gets a yellow for a similar, yet much tamer and less dangerous, tackle,” a fan commented. Someone else wrote: “So Trossard gets a card and he doesn’t?” in agreement. .

Rio Ferdinand concurred that Jackson’s challenge was “reckless” during the Premier League game’s halftime broadcast on TNT.
“I couldn’t believe that challenge wasn’t even looked at by VAR,” the man exclaimed. This season, we’ve witnessed a lot of horrible things, if not worse than this. And you say to yourself, “Wow, they’ve left.”
They would have concluded that this was a risky challenge if they had taken a closer look at it. Whoa. Please come over and explain that to me; I would really appreciate that.
‘I mean, that’s incredible,’ commented Martin Keown, expressing his agreement with Ferdinand. Later in the game, I believe we saw Mikel Arteta earn a booking. I believe he may have been moaning about Trossard being booked, as we can see, even though Jackson hasn’t even been booked.
“That’s where the rule needs to change,” Ferdinand continued. “You can’t say that’s ok; that’s a reckless challenge.”
