In Getafe’s 1-1 tie with Real Sociedad, Mason Greenwood scored a goal and showed signs of improvement.
Despite playing well for the Liga club, the 22-year-old has not assisted or scored since the beginning of the previous month.
Each side had seven shots on goal in a draw. But with 61% of the possession, the visitors were in the lead.
The United academy graduate was awarded a score of 7.3 on Sofascore for his afternoon’s work. The highest-rated for his team and joint highest of the game.
The biggest contribution by the Englishman by far was his assist for Getafe’s equaliser. He produced a sublime cross for Juanmi Latasa to head home from close range.
It was his sixth assist of the season, and he still plays a major role in any successful offensive play that Getafe makes.
During the game, the Bradford native completed 67% of his 15 passes and made one crucial pass. He crossed the ball three times, the one time the pass found its intended recipient ending in a goal.
Greenwood did have a frustrating time in front of goal in a game of few chances. He did not have any shots on or off target but he did have one shot that was blocked by the resolute Basque defence.
Nonetheless, the Englishman was a constant threat in the side of Sociedad as he had 40 touches and successfully completed three out of his four dribble attempts.
Greenwood also showed his defensive strength as he won an incredible 10 out of his 15 ground duels as he battled hard for his side.
The team from San Sebastian struggled to deal with the United man as he was fouled six times in the game.
Getafe, who remained ninth in the rankings and are still on track for an outstanding top-half finish, drew for the thirteenth time this season.
When Greenwood and his team visit Almeria on Saturday afternoon, they’ll be looking to improve on their impressive performance.
