Arsenal regained their position at the top of the Premier League standings by securing a well-executed 2-0 victory over Wolves on the road.
The Gunners rebounded from their recent disappointment in European competition by securing a one-point lead at the summit of the league, although their competitors still have a match in hand.
Arsenal reclaimed the top position in the league standings by defeating Wolves.
Leandro Trossard scored a remarkable goal in the first half, giving Arsenal the lead and adding another crucial goal to his tally.
In addition, captain Martin Odegaard scored a goal from a short distance in injury time, further solidifying the team’s three-point victory.
While Mikel Arteta’s side did not execute an exceptional performance, they displayed professionalism, which increases their chances of success in May.
Below is our assessment of each Arsenal player’s individual performance…
DAVID RAYA – 7
Very little to do in the opening 30 minutes before a stunning reaction stop onto the post. Ultimately a match-winning save.
JAKUB KIWIOR – 6
Forward a lot but his accuracy of delivery was not there. Almost handed Wolves the lead after losing a duel to Joao Gomes but had Raya to thank.
WILLIAM SALIBA – 6
Cracks beginning to show in his usually immaculate displays. Little missteps here and there. Makes up for it right now with his physicality and recovery speed.
GABRIEL MAGALHAES – 7
In contrast to his defensive partner, is in excellent form and is developing into a true vocal leader of the back four and midfield in front of him. He is always making the gesture to play through pressure and to settle down.
BEN WHITE – 7
Industrious but his link-up play with Saka is missing some magic that we saw earlier this year, but still managed to get into some promising positions and was solid on his side.
DECLAN RICE – 6
During the first 45 minutes, there were two shots taken with the side of the foot, and the second shot came quite close to going into the goal.
He appears to be making an excessive effort to be present in multiple places simultaneously. It is important to maintain composure both on and off the ball and remain composed.
MARTIN ODEGAARD – 8
Not at his pressing, high-energy best. Looked tired.
Dithered over a good chance in the box, but still wrapped up the points in the dying seconds with an ingenious finish from a tight angle.
KAI HAVERTZ – 7
Undoubtedly, Arsenal’s most outstanding performer in the first half. The player’s forceful and resolute shot at Jesus resulted in a goal just moments later.
Continued to work diligently, but, like to the majority of his teammates, lacked a decisive and efficient approach.
BUKAYO SAKA – 6
Saw an early header saved and wasted a glorious chance from Rice’s chip over the top in the first half. Another quiet night from the England winger.
LEANDRO TROSSARD – 8
Appeared to possess the liberty to move freely, actively engaging in the game, and had the opportunity to score in the 26th minute from White’s pass, but failed to do so.
Compensated for it with an atypical and perhaps fortuitous goal in the top corner just before the end of the first half.
GABRIEL JESUS – 6
Exhibiting a predominantly passive approach in the offensive phase, the player’s sole noteworthy moment, aside from a few careless touches, was a feeble attempt that missed the target. However, his skillful ability to retain possession led to an unexpected goal.
If Arsenal is to win the league, they require more than a few pleasant moments from him.
GABRIEL MARTINELLI (for Trossard) – 6
Trossard’s addition was intended to inject vigor and power into the left side, but he still appears to be a mere semblance of the player who excelled last season.
Indulgently attempted a shot at the end, despite Saka’s clear plea for an easy tap-in.
THOMAS PARTEY (for Jesus) – 6
Accumulating more minutes of playing time as he regains his physical condition. Contributed tenacity and determination to the midfield throughout the last moments.
