Mikel Arteta’s defensive triangle of David Raya, William Saliba and Gabriel kept a clean sheet for the sixth successive away league match for the first time in the club’s history.

Arsenal managed to break their streak of three winless games with a hard-fought but unremarkable victory.

However, it is possible that at the conclusion of the season, it could prove to be extremely valuable.

Arsenal would often approach this game with confidence and self-assurance.

They have been victorious in their previous five matches against Wolves and have successfully scored at least once in each of their last 32 encounters in all competitions against Wanderers.

Nevertheless, the Gunners were still recovering from the negative impact of consecutive losses to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich, and were eager to secure their first victory in four matches.

The agonizing losses placed Arsenal’s season in a precarious state and intensified the strain on Arteta’s team.

Nevertheless, this is the crucial stage of the season, and it was their responsibility to ensure that they resumed their customary operations in order to reclaim the top position in the Premier League.

Although they did not fully attain that goal, the only thing that truly matters at this period of the season are the outcomes.

Regrettably for Arteta, his team commenced the match as if they were still recovering from the effects of their recent visit to Munich earlier in the week.

While they had a significant amount of ball possession and managed to create many opportunities, they failed to pose any significant threat to Jose Sa, the goalkeeper for Wolves.

In the first minute of the match, Kai Havertz attempted a shot while turning, but it lacked sufficient strength and Sa made a low save to his right.

Gabriel Jesus hastily attempted another shot, but unfortunately, he sent the ball wide. Similarly, Saka’s high header was effortlessly caught by Sa.

Trossard made a concerted effort to motivate the Gunners and on two occasions within a five-minute span, he skillfully sent the ball back to the edge of the Wolves box, creating promising opportunities.

However, on both occasions, Declan Rice utilized the instep of his right boot and kicked the ball wide using the side of his foot.

The Gunners were fatigued and lacking energy after their journey to Bavaria, while Gary O’Neil’s understrength Wolves team gained more assurance.

Tawanda Chirewa, the team’s 20-year-old forward, attempted a shot from a distance of 25 yards, but the ball ricocheted off Rice and was caught by Raya.

Leandro Trossard failed to properly connect with a pass from Ben White, resulting in a missed opportunity. Shortly after, he received a yellow card for committing a foul on Joao Gomes.

Arsenal appeared significantly diminished compared to the team that had been considered frontrunners to win the championship only four matches earlier.

David Raya had a crucial role in preventing Wolves from scoring and maintaining an even score.

Jakub Kiwior, who consistently lagged behind, displayed a lackadaisical attitude and was outmaneuvered by Gomes, who successfully prevented him from advancing before forcefully striking a shot at an angle towards the goal.

However, Raya challenged him by instantly extending his left glove to redirect the ball onto the post.

Gomes, feeling despondent, clasped his head in his hands, acknowledging that Wolves’ most promising opportunity had likely vanished.

Rice’s exasperation reached its peak as he received a booking for committing a foul on Bueno, before vehemently objecting that referee Paul Tierney had disregarded a more severe charge committed by Max Kilman on Havertz.

While Havertz was undergoing medical care, Arteta summoned his players to the touchline, making frenzied gestures in an effort to invigorate them.

Saliba evidently did not receive the memorandum as he made an imprecise pass directly to Hugo Bueno before rectifying his mistake with a well-executed tackle.

Arteta’s remarks evidently had a significant impact on his strikers, as the Gunners unexpectedly and dramatically took the lead just before half-time.

Although luck played a significant role, none of the individuals wearing red and white appeared to be particularly concerned.

Havertz elegantly lifted the ball into the penalty area, while Jesus seemingly made contact with Doherty before the Wolves player forcefully brought him down.

Instead of remaining on the ground and appealing for a penalty, the Brazilian quickly regained his footing.

Although his initial touch on the ball was forceful, it fortuitously landed in a favorable position for Trossard.
The Belgian player was in an unsteady position when he took the shot, but miraculously the ball grazed his toe and soared over the goalkeeper, hitting the inside of the goalpost before entering the net.

Trossard’s ninth goal of the season, a personal record for him, sent Arsenal to the top of the league.

Hwang Hee-Chan received a booking for his late challenge on Kiwior during the halftime interval and was promptly substituted by Mario Lemina.

The Wolves midfielder attempted a shot that Raya, the goalkeeper, skillfully caught in mid-air.

Arteta substituted Trossard with Gabriel Martinelli in his pursuit of securing a second goal.

However, Wolves were exerting pressure on the opposition, but they were not posing a significant challenge to Raya.

As the match extended into injury time, Sa was the one who had to save Wolves by stopping shots from Rice and Martinelli before Odegaard ultimately defeated Wolves.

The captain of Arsenal dispossessed Havertz and, despite having his attempted pass stopped, he quickly responded and skillfully scored from a narrow angle, securing Arsenal’s 23rd victory in the Premier League this season.David Raya kept another away clean sheetDavid Raya kept another away clean sheet Credit: GettyWolves had a depleted squad going into the gameWolves had a depleted squad going into the game Credit: ReutersGabriel Martinelli was denied by Jose SaGabriel Martinelli was denied by Jose Sa Credit: PA
