‘There is a release clause’ – David Ornstein says Arsenal ‘really like’ Bruno Guimaraes as well as Alexander Isak but there is one condition

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Alexander Isak in recent weeks.

The Gunners are keen on the Swedish striker amid reports Newcastle United may need to sell a star player to balance the books this summer.

However, Isak isn’t the only star player Newcastle could sell, and he’s also not the only Newcastle player that Arsenal are keen on.

Indeed, according to David Ornstein, speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, Arsenal are keen on another player from St James’ Park.

Ornstein spoke about the Gunners’ summer transfer plans and named Bruno Guimaraes as someone Arsenal like.

“Somebody who I think of off the top of my head that Arsenal and other clubs really like is Bruno Guimaraes. He can play as an eight or as a six. Newcastle hope to keep hold of him, there is a release clause though and anyone who is going to take him he has to deliver straight away,” Ornstein said.

This won’t be an easy deal to do, but, as Ornstein says, there is a release clause that could be triggered here.

Arsenal might have one of the greatest midfield combinations in the world if they do sign Guimaraes.

In fact, can you picture Bruno Guimaraes and Declan Rice playing together in the midfield?

It would be an ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, possessing the ideal balance of strength, speed, talent, and intellect.

Although it won’t be easy to get Guimaraes out of Newcastle, Arsenal should look into other options if they can close the deal because Guimaraes is the exact midfield midfielder the north London team is currently lacking.
