In Wednesday’s second leg of Manchester City vs. Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals, Vinícius Junior was substituted due to an injury.
In extra time at Etihad Stadium, the Brazil winger looked to have injured his groin in a battle to the ball with Kyle Walker, a City defender.
In the 103rd minute, he collapsed to the ground clutching the inside of his leg and was replaced by Lucas Vazquez.
After the game ended in regulation with a score of 1-1, extra time was added. After last week’s 3-3 draw in Madrid for the first leg, the match was level 4–4 overall.
In the 12th minute, Rodrygo gave the 14-time champion Madrid the lead, and in the 76th, Kevin De Bruyne gave City a point.
Real Madrid won 4-3 on penalties to go to the semifinals.
After the game ended 1-1 in extra time and 4-4 overall, Antonio Rudiger scored the game-winning spot kick.
