Arsenal player Bukayo Saka has donated 50 containers to help 255 victims of the devastating earthquake in Morocco find safety.
At least 3,000 people died in Morocco during the deadliest earthquake to strike in over a century in September.
Taroudant and Al Haouz provinces were among the hardest struck by the disaster, with an earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale.
Saka has partnered with BigShoe, a charitable organization, to provide much-needed homes to 84 families in a small community in the Taroudant region.
The containers will help those affected by the terrible earthquake in Morocco.
In the community alone, the natural calamity claimed the lives of 42 individuals.
Saka has donated fifty containers as support to the impacted parties. A kitchenette, electricity, a sleeping space, and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sinks are all included in the containers.
In case there are any more earthquakes, safety grilles have also been put in place on the containers’ windows to prevent falls.
In September, Morocco experienced its largest earthquake in 120 years, which claimed 3,000 lives.
The England and Arsenal winger expressed his hope that the 84 families and 89 children would be able to return to some degree of normalcy in their everyday life thanks to the containers.
“I was shocked to learn about the horrible earthquake in Morocco,” Saka said.
However, in that second case, I became acutely aware of my desire to assist, and we investigated our options for providing support to the displaced families.
Saka mentioned the necessity of providing a roof for the families affected by the calamity.
Before long, after we figured out how to help, we were able to give people who had lost everything because of events beyond their control a roof over their heads, some comfort, and hope.
“You become aware of how lucky you are to survive in a world where others are losing loved ones, their homes, or their fight for survival.”
Saka continued, saying he was moved by the stories of the accident widows, the old man with a disability, and the child with Down syndrome.
Following the star’s donation, kids were spotted sporting Arsenal shirts with Saka’s name on them.
Last year, the 22-year-old and BigShoe worked together to finance 120 surgeries that transformed the lives of children in Nigeria.
He also contributed money for temporary shelters in earthquake-affected Turkish cities in the start of 2023.
Since the founding of BigShoe in 2006, a number of well-known personalities have contributed to the organization’s efforts to help impoverished children.
Over 1,800 children have benefited from the foundation’s assistance worldwide. Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger and former Arsenal player Mesut Ozil have also worked with the organization.
