Following Tuesday’s 3–3 draw, Manchester City will feel like they have the advantage over Real Madrid in their quarterfinal Champions League encounter.
With two leads, the visitors might have been a little disappointed not to win on their way back to Manchester. Jude Bellingham was among the players who were visibly upset.
In the first half, Ruben Dias fairly upended the England player, but the Real star protested the tackle. He also thought he should have been awarded a penalty in the second half and was angry that referee Francois Letexier blew up for time when the hosts got a throw-in deep in City territory.
Bellingham became enraged by this and addressed the official at full time, objecting to his decision to blow when he did, giving the impression that he was mouthing “no way, no way” to Letexier. Carlo Ancelotti also had a brief conversation with the fourth official on the touchline.
Real Madrid will feel they have a difficult challenge at the Etihad next week, even though they have already trailed twice. Two minutes later, Dias, a deflected Rodrygo goal, and an own goal gave the home team a 2-1 lead at the half. However, Bernardo Silva’s skillful, quick free kick had put City ahead.
On minute 66, a wonderful goal from Phil Foden knotted the score. Five minutes later, City seized a 3-2 lead with an even better goal—Josko Gvardiol’s first of the season. However, Federico Valverde’s incredible shot brought the score back to even, bringing the game back to the Etihad.
