However Rodrygo was able to squeeze a shot into the net after Stefan Ortega hastily came charging off his line before being caught out of position as the 23-year-old made it 2-1.

It was his 16th goal of the season so far and his ninth in this term’s Champions League.

After the goal, he quickly hit the iconic ‘Sir’ celebration.

Clearly enjoying his strike, Rodrygo wheeled away in delight before pulling out Ronaldo’s trademark celebration.

As well as being a Real Madrid legend, CR7 is a famous rival of Man City having spent two spells with fierce rivals Manchester United.

Ronaldo scored a staggering 450 goals during his nine-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

But many Madrid fans would be pleased with what he did afterwards.

Rodrygo kissed the club’s badge and made a gesture to suggest that he loves the team.
